Book One opens at the Imperial Military Academy at Carthage as the Troy Games begin: a month-long proving ground the empire watches. Cadets compete for command. Sebastian Herrera intends to prove he has what it takes.
It is told in the first person and the present tense from inside that contest, by Sebastian himself.
